MIAMI, Fla. — George Russell aims for another podium finish at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, starting from fifth position on the grid. Russell, who has secured three podiums this season, acknowledges the stiff competition ahead.

“A podium would be a win tomorrow,” Russell said, expressing realistic expectations. He noted that the McLaren drivers are likely to be out of reach. “Max’s race pace has been surprisingly good recently,” he added.

McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, is optimistic about the race despite missing pole position. He quipped that Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri‘s failure to secure the top spot makes F1 “more entertaining.” Stella believes their car is well-suited for race conditions. “Our car is more predictable and suitable for race trim,” he said. “It’s performing well, strong and fast, but driving it on the limit offers little surprises. Tomorrow will be a good race.”

Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari addressed concerns regarding his Q2 performance, suggesting that new tires might not have changed the outcome. “We should have,” Hamilton said. “It doesn’t make sense when you’re struggling so much not to put two new sets on or utilize those sets.”

Kimi Antonelli, the 18-year-old Mercedes driver, shared his strategy ahead of the race: “It will be important to play it smart, aggressive as well — a good amount. And we will see what happens at the front and I will take every opportunity.”

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is mixed clouds and sun with a 50 percent chance of rain and a high of 83 degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees Celsius), which could affect race dynamics, especially after recent chaotic conditions.

The Miami International Autodrome has seen trends where pole positions haven’t led to race wins, a pattern that Max Verstappen, starting from pole for the second consecutive year, hopes to break. Oscar Piastri will line up in P4, poised to capitalize on any early race drama to cling onto his championship lead after winning the last two races.

Charles Leclerc starts at P8 and is frustrated with his ongoing struggles this season. “I’m not accepting it,” he stated about his qualifying performance and added, “I’m not expecting any miracles tomorrow.”

This Miami Grand Prix marks another chance for Lando Norris to continue his success at the venue after winning his debut race there last year. With tight competition for points in the drivers’ standings, expect an exciting afternoon of racing.

As the countdown to the race continues, all eyes will be on the front runners, including Russell, who could potentially challenge for the podium once again.
