Georges Mikautadze‘s star continues to rise at Euro 2024, where his stellar performances have propelled Georgia into the knockout stages with three crucial goals.

The 23-year-old forward, currently plying his trade at FC Metz in Ligue 1, had initially indicated his intention to stay in the league despite his club’s relegation – opening the doors for a potential transfer saga.

While AS Monaco seemed like the frontrunners for Mikautadze’s signature, their position has been challenged by other interested parties following his impressive displays at the ongoing tournament.

Olympique Lyonnais, once a viable destination, now appears unlikely as Alexandre Lacazette opted to remain with the club for the final year of his contract rather than pursue a move to the Saudi Pro League.

RC Lens has emerged as another potential suitor, although the financial intricacies of the deal present a hurdle, especially with Metz demanding around €20m for Mikautadze, a valuation that may have surged after his Euro 2024 heroics.

For Lens to make a move for the Georgian striker, they may need to offload Elye Wahi, who has underperformed since his high-profile transfer from Montpellier HSC last summer.

Wahi, a France youth international, is now being targeted by an undisclosed Premier League outfit, as reported by journalist from Foot Mercato, further complicating Lens’ pursuit of Mikautadze amid the club’s new stringent financial policies.
