PENSACOLA, Fla. — Georgia Southern triumphed over Southern Miss 78-64 on Wednesday in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, earning a spot in the next round. The ninth-seeded Eagles improved their season record to 17-15 and will face off against No. 8 seed Georgia State on Thursday.

Georgia Southern’s performance was highlighted by a strong showing from its players. Leading the Eagles was Banks, who scored 16 points, shooting 6 for 11 from the field, including a 1 for 3 mark from beyond the arc. Banks also converted 3 of 5 free throws.

In addition to Banks, two other Eagle players contributed significantly to the victory.
