Giant Eagle Introduces New Express Format in Harmar Township
Giant Eagle, a leading grocery store and pharmacy chain, has recently opened the first of its new format, Giant Eagle Express, in the Harmar Township area outside Pittsburgh. This new format is designed to serve as a local community supermarket, offering a full range of services and products tailored for time-starved shoppers.
The 14,000 square feet store features a full pharmacy with a drive-through window, 16 fuel pumps, and a small but adequate selection of grocery items including fresh produce and meat. Additionally, it includes an in-store bakery, a service deli counter, and a large prepared foods cafe area.
Giant Eagle Express falls between the size of a traditional Giant Eagle grocery store and that of Giant Eagle’s GetGo convenience stores. This new model is meant to compete effectively with other retail chains like Tesco, Walgreens, and Sheetz.
