Giants’ Flores Hits Three Home Runs in Victory Over A’s

SAN FRANCISCO — Thairo Flores homered three times, including a grand slam, and drove in eight runs to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 10-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.
Flores set career highs for homers and RBIs in a single game. He hit his seventh grand slam off A’s starter Ken Waldichuk in the third inning. Flores then added a three-run shot against Waldichuk in the sixth, followed by a solo home run in the eighth inning off reliever Sam Moll.
According to ESPN Research, Flores is the first right-handed batter to hit three home runs in a game at Oracle Park since Kevin Elster did it for the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 11, 2000. Max Muncy, a left-handed batter, was the only other player to accomplish this feat at the park in 2022. This performance also raised Flores’ RBI total to 41, tying him with MLB star Shohei Ohtani for the league lead.
The impressive offensive display provided ample support for Giants pitcher Logan Webb, who improved his record to 5-3. Webb carried a shutout into the eighth inning, allowing one run and five hits over eight innings. He struck out four batters and issued two walks. Over the past four home starts covering a total of 28â…“ innings, Webb boasts a remarkable 0.64 ERA.
Camilo Doval struck out the side in the ninth inning to secure the win. This game marked the Giants’ first meeting against the A’s this season, part of the historic rivalry known as the Bay Bridge Series.
A’s pitcher Ken Waldichuk, who had allowed just one run over his previous two starts, gave up four runs and six hits in four innings, dropping his record to 4-3. The game also highlighted the A’s first trip to the Bay Area since relocating from Oakland to Sacramento while awaiting a new stadium in Las Vegas.
