Green Bay Packers Sign Former First-Round Pick Jamin Davis to Practice Squad
The Green Bay Packers, currently holding a 6-2 record and competing for the NFC North title, have made a significant addition to their roster. The team announced on October 29, 2024, that they have signed linebacker Jamin Davis to their practice squad. Davis, a former first-round draft pick, was recently released by the Washington Commanders on October 22, 2024.
Davis was selected by the Washington Football Team in the first round (19th overall) of the 2021 NFL draft. During his time with the Commanders, he played primarily as a middle linebacker but was moved to defensive end in the 2024 offseason. Despite his versatility, Davis was released after appearing in five of seven games this season, where he recorded 13 tackles.
The Packers’ decision to sign Davis reflects their ongoing effort to enhance their defensive capabilities. Davis brings a wealth of experience, having led the Commanders in tackles during the 2022 season with 104 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and three sacks. His addition to the practice squad could provide valuable depth and competition for the Packers’ defense.
In a corresponding move, the Packers released linebacker Chris Russell from the practice squad to make room for Davis. This signing gives Davis a second chance to find success in the NFL and contributes to the Packers’ pursuit of a playoff spot.
