Guy Ritchie Jake Gyllenhaal Road House 2 Movie

Los Angeles, CA — Director Guy Ritchie has officially signed on to direct Road House 2, a sequel to the successful Amazon MGM Studios action film starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Production is set to begin with Gyllenhaal reprising his role as Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter turned bouncer in Florida Keys.

Will Beall, known for his screenplay work on Aquaman and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is set to write the script, while Gyllenhaal will also take on producing duties through his Nine Stories Productions alongside partners Josh McLaughlin, Charles Roven, and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment. Details about the sequel’s plot remain closely guarded.

The original Road House was a remake of the 1989 classic featuring Patrick Swayze. Under the direction of Doug Liman, the film attracted nearly 80 million viewers within its first eight weeks of release on Prime Video, marking it as Amazon’s most-watched produced film debut.

Liman will not return as director, following his public frustration with Amazon regarding the movie’s streaming release. He advocated for a theatrical launch, claiming the studio opted for a streaming strategy that didn’t properly compensate him. Ritchie, familiar with action films and his previous collaborations with Gyllenhaal, is expected to bring a dynamic style to Road House 2.

Ritchie has been busy in the industry, directing multiple films, including the upcoming Fountain of Youth, which features stars such as John Krasinski and Natalie Portman and is set for release on May 23 on Apple TV+. His extensive filmography shows a history of successful and kinetic movies, making him a suitable candidate to revive the franchise.

As Ritchie gears up for this next project, fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting the continuation of Dalton’s story. The excitement builds as Ritchie and Gyllenhaal reunite once again, following their previous work on Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant and the upcoming thriller In the Grey.
