Heavy Rain Expected Through Midweek in Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Residents of the Hudson Valley should prepare for a wet and chilly midweek as a nor’easter approaches the region. According to local meteorologist Ben Noll, the storm is forecasted to bring significant rainfall and below-average temperatures through Friday.
Beginning Wednesday, light rain is expected intermittently, continuing into Thursday. Noll cautioned that temperatures may struggle to reach the 50s, making conditions feel more like March than May. The system will deliver cooler air from Canada along with increased cloud cover and precipitation.
“After a sunny start to the week, the weather will shift dramatically,” Noll said in his forecast report. “Many areas will experience below-normal temperatures and persistent rain. It will feel like winter is returning for a few days.”
The current weather pattern has already resulted in a month with above-average rainfall for many areas. Noll noted that several locations have received one to two times their normal rainfall totals for May.
Forecasters indicate that while a brief respite is expected over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, more rain could return Sunday night into Monday. Most of the holiday weekend will see temperatures rise into the 60s with decreasing clouds as the holiday approaches.
Residents are advised to remain cautious while traveling during this period, especially as wet road conditions could lead to hazardous driving situations. Download the local news app for real-time weather updates and alerts as the rainy days unfold.
