SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. — Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 high school basketball player in the 2026 class, has officially withdrawn from Notre Dame High School, according to a statement from the school.

The announcement came on Wednesday, stating, “Notre Dame High School acknowledges Tyran Stokes’ decision to withdraw and explore new opportunities. We appreciate the contributions he made to our basketball program and community during his time here,” said Athletic Director Alec Moss. “We wish Tyran all the best as he pursues his future goals, and we are confident he will find success.”

Stokes, a 6-foot-7 small forward, had been facing disciplinary issues at Notre Dame, including reported altercations with other students. He served a suspension that kept him off the field during multiple high school football games this season and has not attended classes recently.

Sources indicate that Stokes may transfer to a national-level prep school for his final year of high school basketball. He had missed team events, including photo day and practice, causing speculation about his future.

In September, Stokes made headlines when he decided to play football mid-season, joining the team for just three games. “I had to explain to my Mom and agent that this is my last time I get to actually be a kid,” Stokes said.

Stokes has narrowed his college choices to Kentucky, Kansas, and Oregon, having visited all three schools officially. His decision to leave Notre Dame may influence future games for the Knights, who are still expected to be competitive with other talented players on their roster.

This situation remains developing, and further updates are expected as Stokes embarks on his next chapter. Stay tuned for ongoing coverage of high school sports.
