Horror Game ‘Mouthwashing’ Expands to Consoles After Steam Success

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The horror game ‘Mouthwashing’ is set to leave its Steam exclusivity and launch on consoles in 2025, according to developer Wrong Organ. The decision follows the game’s successful run on Steam, where it has sold over 500,000 copies.
‘Mouthwashing’ is known for its unsettling themes revolving around existential crises, featuring elements such as suicide, cannibalism, and alcoholism. Despite its grim narrative, the game has garnered a following for its thought-provoking gameplay that lasts approximately three hours.
“It’s a deeply upsetting game, and I mean that sincerely,” a representative for Wrong Organ stated. “It pushes players to confront heavy themes that are often avoided in more conventional gaming experiences.”
Though the specifics of the console launch remain unclear, the developer announced that both digital and physical editions will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Fans of the game are encouraged to explore its narrative before its console debut.
As anticipation builds for the console release, some gamers expressed their mixed feelings about ‘Mouthwashing’. One player noted, “It’s not a game I would willingly play more than once, but I’m glad I experienced it.” Another commented on its complex nature, likening it to the unconventional films produced by A24.
While no exact date has been announced for the console launch, fans can look forward to 2025 for more updates. In the meantime, ‘Mouthwashing’ remains available on PC, providing players the opportunity to explore its dark themes and challenging narratives.
