Alperen Sengun Houston Rockets Game Action

HOUSTON, Texas — Alperen Sengun, the Houston Rockets‘ rising star, continues to dominate the court, leading his team to a 28-13 record and securing second place in the Western Conference. The Turkish center recently recorded another double-double in a road victory, further solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most versatile players.

Head coach Ime Udoka praised Sengun’s ability to handle the growing media and fan attention. “All the losing they did before I got here, and now we are seeing some success. For the most part, I think he handles it well,” Udoka said. “According to what my coaches, who worked with him one-on-one during the summer, said, he is like Michael Jordan in Turkey. He faces a lot more when he goes home, so he is used to it now.”

Sengun is averaging 19.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game this season, with 26 double-doubles and three triple-doubles. His recent performances have been particularly impressive, with averages of 20.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and five assists over the last 21 games. His ability to score in the post and facilitate for teammates has made him a cornerstone of the Rockets’ offense.

One of Sengun’s standout games this season came against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he scored 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. His versatility was on full display as he balanced scoring and playmaking, showcasing why he is considered one of the best passing centers in the league.

National media attention has also grown, with calls for Sengun to be named an All-Star. He currently ranks sixth in fan voting for the Western Conference frontcourt, competing against elite players like Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. If selected, Sengun would be the first Rocket to make the All-Star roster since James Harden.

Despite the stiff competition, Sengun’s consistent performances and unique skill set have made him a strong candidate. His ability to excel against top-tier opponents, including rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, has further bolstered his case.

As the Rockets continue their push for playoff contention, Sengun’s leadership and on-court brilliance will be crucial. His selfless play and relentless work ethic have not only elevated his game but also inspired his teammates to rise to the occasion.
