HOUSTON, TexasLJ Cryer, a standout guard from the Houston Cougars basketball team, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Golden State Warriors, the team announced on October 3, 2025. This contract offers Cryer the chance to secure a roster spot for the upcoming NBA season.

Cryer, who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, gained recognition during his time at Baylor, where he won a National Championship in 2021. In his final season with Baylor, he averaged 15 points per game along with a notable 41.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Seeking further development, he transferred to Houston, where he excelled, averaging 15.7 points per game last season and leading the Cougars to the National Title game.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for me to join a championship organization,” Cryer said. He now aims to earn a two-way contract and prove himself alongside seasoned veterans like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Kevin Sampson, the head coach of the Cougars, remarked, “LJ has worked hard and deserves this chance. He has all the potential to thrive at the NBA level.” Cryer’s competitive spirit will be tested as he competes against various established guards, including Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield.

If Cryer does not secure a roster position with the Warriors, he is expected to play with their G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, providing him another pathway to develop his skills further.

The Golden State Warriors are focused on adding depth and young talent to their roster as they pursue another championship title this season.
