Houston Dash Hosts San Diego Wave for Pride Night Match

HOUSTON (June 12, 2025) – The Houston Dash return to Shell Energy Stadium on Friday, June 13, for Pride Night, hosting the San Diego Wave in an exciting NWSL matchup. This will be the Dash’s final home game before the league break as they look to improve on last week’s performance.
The Dash seek redemption following a narrow 1-0 road loss to the Orlando Pride, a match where they held the reigning champions scoreless until the ninth minute of stoppage time. Key players like defenders Katie Lind and Paige Neilsen stood out, contributing significantly to the team’s defense with a combined total of 16 clearances, alongside goalkeeper Abby Smith, who recorded seven saves.
Defender Natalie Jacobs also made her mark, racking up six clearances and 11 entries into the opposition’s final third while midfielders Yazmeen Ryan and Maggie Graham won a total of 22 duels, highlighting their fierce play in the midfield.
This match coincides with the Dash’s Pride Night celebration, featuring special merchandise and interactive fan activities. Attendees can look forward to Pride-themed giveaways, including the Dash Pride shirt, friendship bracelet-making, and a themed photo backdrop, enhancing the festive atmosphere at the stadium.
The San Diego Wave, currently ranked third in the NWSL standings with a 6-3-2 record, come into this match after a recent 2-1 loss to Seattle Reign FC. The Wave’s Adriana Leon, who scored twice in a 5-2 victory over North Carolina Courage earlier this season, has been a standout player and was recently named NWSL Player of the Week.
Historically, the Wave have a favorable matchup against Houston, with a 4-1-1 record since joining the league in 2022. However, the Dash secured their first victory against San Diego in their last encounter in the fall, winning 2-0. In that match, midfielder Bárbara Olivieri converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute after Naomi Grima fouled inside the box, and Ramona Bachmann doubled their lead in the 72nd minute.
After the San Diego matchup, the Dash will travel to face North Carolina Courage on Saturday, June 21. Following this game, they will have a league break before returning to play on August 2 against Bay FC.
Tickets for Friday’s match against the Wave are available, with the Dash looking to regain momentum and showcase their talent on Pride Night.
