HOUSTON — The Houston Texans announced Thursday they have “amicably” parted ways with team president Greg Grissom, ending his more than two-decade tenure with the franchise.

Grissom, who had served as team president since March 2021, joined the Texans during their inaugural season in 2002. In a statement, Texans owner and CEO Cal McNair expressed gratitude for Grissom’s contributions. “Since he became our team president in 2021, Greg helped me implement numerous initiatives to help our organization fearlessly evolve and grow in many ways, which we are very thankful for,” McNair said. “We wish Greg and his family all the best in the future.”

Grissom also released a statement, calling his time with the Texans “the opportunity of a lifetime.” He said, “After almost 25 years with the Texans, including the last four as president, I feel it’s the right time to embrace new challenges and opportunities.” Grissom thanked the McNair family for their support and highlighted his pride in the team’s accomplishments during his tenure.

As president, Grissom oversaw a wide range of business operations, including marketing, digital media, community relations, ticket sales, and corporate partnerships. Before his promotion to president, he held roles such as senior vice president of corporate development and led initiatives in business and sponsorship development.

During his tenure, Grissom spearheaded partner integration across platforms like HoustonTexans.com, Texans Radio, and Texans TV. He also oversaw the launch of the Houston Texans Luxe program in 2017, which enhanced the fan experience.

McNair said updates on the team’s next president will be provided in the coming days. Grissom, an Austin native and Baylor University graduate, leaves behind a legacy of strong relationships with fans, corporate leaders, and the Houston community.
