HUD Chief Declares End of DEI under Trump Administration

WASHINGTON – U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced the termination of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives during an appearance on ‘Fox & Friends‘ on Monday. He discussed the recent findings of $1.9 billion in misplaced funds at HUD and outlined the agency’s commitment to ensuring American taxpayer dollars are effectively used.
Turner stated, “We cut $4 million in DEI contracts here at HUD, which were supposed to be for culture transformation, mindfulness training, and subscription services. This is money that should go to serve the American people.” His comments reflect a broader strategy to refocus HUD’s resources towards direct services for citizens.
The Secretary revealed that the $1.9 billion discovered in misplaced funds was intended for administrative services at HUD. He attributed this oversight to mismanagement and negligence during the Biden Administration. “Now that we’ve found these funds, we can notify and de-obligate so that the Treasury Department can use those funds for other federal expenditures for the American people,” he added.
Turner emphasized that under President Trump’s leadership, the focus will be on ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely. “It’s common sense. The hard-earned money of American taxpayers should go to serve the American people. That’s what we’re doing here at HUD,” he said. This commitment aligns with the broader push for accountability in government spending.
