Hudson Fire in Bastrop County Grows to 200 Acres, Prompts Evacuations
A rapidly spreading wildfire in Bastrop County, Texas, has prompted mandatory evacuations and significant firefighting efforts. The Hudson Fire, which ignited west of downtown Bastrop on Sunday afternoon, has grown from an initial 50 acres to an estimated 200 acres as of 4 p.m. on November 3, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The fire, reported to have started around 1:50 p.m., quickly spread due to strong south winds, crossing Park Road 1C and moving into open fields. The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management has issued evacuation orders for several areas, including the 400 block of Gotier Trace Road to Alum Creek, Texas Highway 71 at Alum Creek north to Gotier Trace Road, and Park Road 1C between Alum Creek and Cottletown.
Firefighters, assisted by Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Texas A&M Forest Service, are working through the night to contain the blaze. Aircraft, including helicopters and super scoopers, have been deployed to help slow the fire’s spread. Despite the challenging conditions, no casualties or injuries have been reported thus far.
The fire remains 0% contained, and residents are advised to avoid the area for safety reasons. The situation is ongoing, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
