Carolina Hurricanes Vs New Jersey Devils Playoff Game

NEWARK, N.J. – The Carolina Hurricanes are sticking with the same lineup for Game 4 of their first-round playoff series against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed that goaltender Frederik Andersen will make his fourth consecutive start.

Andersen has performed well in the series, allowing just one goal in each of the first two games. Despite a loss in double overtime during Game 3, he made 34 saves. “He gave us the ‘I want the net’ and that’s all you need to hear,” Brind’Amour said.

The Hurricanes are looking to regain momentum after their recent double-overtime defeat. Carolina’s special teams have been a highlight, going 2-for-4 on power plays in Game 3 and successfully killing all penalties.

New Jersey is currently down 2-1 in the best-of-seven series and will be without Johnathan Kovacevic, who did not return after sustaining an undisclosed injury in the first period of Game 3. This leaves the Devils with only five defensemen.

“I thought Siegenthaler really embodied what our team was about,” New Jersey coach Sheldon Keefe stated about one of the defensemen who stepped up in Kovacevic’s absence. The Devils managed to win Game 3 in a thrilling double-overtime finish, and Keefe emphasized the importance of building on that energy.

Both teams have their eyes set on building a better start. “We’ve got to have a better start,” said Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho. “If we do that, we’ll see better results for sure.”

As the series nears the halfway mark, Carolina’s players are determined to come back with a strong performance on their opponent’s ice.

“Obviously our special teams was great,” Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal said. “But our 5-on-5 was below average; we need to improve that.”

Game 4 is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET at Prudential Center.
