The University of Washington Huskies made a significant addition to their football roster on Tuesday, securing a commitment from Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis, the top-ranked cornerback in the transfer portal. Davis, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound standout, reunites with head coach Jedd Fisch, who recruited him to Arizona in 2022.

Davis, who played under Fisch for two seasons at Arizona, decided to remain with the Wildcats in 2024 after Fisch left for UW. However, he has now chosen to follow his former coach to Seattle. Davis was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2023, recording six pass breakups and 2.0 tackles for loss. In 2022, he earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors, tying for third in the FBS with 16 pass breakups.

According to Pro Football Focus, Davis ranked fifth among Power Four cornerbacks in 2023 with a 27.8% forced incompletion rate. His size and length make him a formidable presence in press coverage and at the catch point, earning him recognition as one of the top players in the transfer portal.

At UW, Davis will join rising senior Ephesians Prysock, forming a talented cornerback duo. The two previously played together at Arizona in 2022 and 2023 before Prysock transferred to UW last year. Prysock started all 13 games for the Huskies this past season, solidifying his role in the secondary.

Davis’ arrival adds depth and experience to a UW secondary that is already shaping up to be highly competitive. With one season of eligibility remaining, Davis is expected to make an immediate impact as the Huskies prepare for the 2025 season.

The Huskies’ secondary will also feature other key players, including Makell Esteen, Vince Holmes, and Peyton Waters, as well as transfer additions Alex McLaughlin from Northern Arizona and CJ Christian from Florida International. The competition for starting roles, particularly at nickelback, is expected to be intense.

Davis’ commitment marks a major win for Fisch and the Huskies as they continue to build a competitive roster through the transfer portal. His addition strengthens a defense that aims to be a cornerstone of the team’s success in the upcoming season.
