Savitri Jindal Meeting Bjp Leaders

In a significant political development in Haryana, all three newly-elected Independent Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have pledged their support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reinforcing the party’s position to form the state government. The Independents, Savitri Jindal, Devender Kadyan, and Rajesh Joon, expressed their decision to back the BJP after meetings with senior party leaders in New Delhi, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Biplab Kumar Deb.

Savitri Jindal, an independent victor from the Hisar constituency, cited her desire for the development of her constituency as a reason for her decision. “I want development for Hisar and want it to become a beautiful city, for this I extend my support,” Jindal stated. Her victory saw her defeat the Congress candidate Ram Niwas Rara, while Kamal Gupta, the former minister in the Saini Cabinet, came in third.

The BJP, overcoming anti-incumbency sentiment, secured a third consecutive term by winning 48 out of 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly. The party managed to thwart the Congress’s attempts at a comeback, with Congress finishing with 37 seats. Mohan Lal Badoli, the Chief of the Haryana BJP, confirmed that the Independents were “very happy with BJP’s victory and are willing to support the party.”

Devender Kadyan, previously associated with the BJP but who contested as an independent after being denied a party ticket, triumphantly defeated Congress’s Kuldeep Sharma in Ganaur. The margin was a decisive 35,209 votes. Meanwhile, Rajesh Joon, a former Congress member, emerged victorious in Bahadurgarh by a margin of 41,999 votes, defeating the BJP’s Dinesh Kaushik.

The support from the Independents bolsters the BJP’s numbers in the Assembly, ensuring a more stable government formation. The Independent MLAs met with BJP leaders in the national capital as they expressed their official backing. The BJP’s performance in Haryana marks its best-ever record since the state was established in 1966, consolidating its political influence amidst a competitive electoral landscape.
