India-England Test Series: Promising Domestic Players Overlooked for Selection
The India–England Test series consisting of 5 matches is set to commence from January 25th. This series holds great significance as it contributes to the World Test Championship points. The Indian cricket team recently announced their squad for the series, with Rohit Sharma leading the team. However, there are several domestic players who have consistently performed well but were overlooked for selection.
Saurabh Kumar, a talented bowler from Uttar Pradesh, has shown remarkable performance in domestic cricket by taking 280 wickets in 65 first-class matches. Despite being a part of India A team, he has not yet been given a chance to represent the national team.
Washington Sundar, who has been in and out of the Indian team, has played 4 Test matches so far. Although he has achieved three fifties, averaging 66 in test matches as a batsman, he was not chosen for the England series.
Abhimanyu Easwaran, known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket for Bengal, has been included in the Indian team on several occasions. However, he is yet to make his debut in international cricket. Easwaran has an average of 47 in 89 first-class matches.
Sarfaraz Khan, another domestic cricketer, has been consistently scoring runs. Despite his performance, he has not yet been able to make it to the national team. Considering the struggle of Shreyas Iyer in the middle order, Sarfaraz Khan could be given an opportunity in the future.
Rajat Patidar, whose domestic record has been impressive, has scored 3845 runs with an average of 45 in 54 first-class matches. He has also registered 11 centuries. However, he was not selected for the India-England Test series.
