Television personality India Willoughby has publicly criticized “Big Brother” contestant Ryan Bradshaw for his remarks concerning the use of personal pronouns, calling them anti-trans. Willoughby, known for her work in television and her advocacy for transgender rights, expressed her concern on social media platform X after a clip of Bradshaw aired during the show’s introductory segment.

Ryan Bradshaw, an events organizer from Blackpool, is one of the participants in the current season of “Big Brother.” In his introductory video, Bradshaw commented on what he termed “woke people” using “certain pronouns,” adding that he finds it confusing when individuals identify in unconventional ways. His remarks have drawn significant attention and criticism from both the public and personalities like Willoughby.

India Willoughby, aged 59, reacted sharply to the video clip posted online. She questioned the decision to allow Bradshaw into the “Big Brother” house, given his comments, and compared the situation to the treatment of other minority groups, saying, “It really is shocking how trans people can now be openly belittled in the UK mainstream.”

The public response on social media has been mixed. While some users support Willoughby’s stance, suggesting that society may be regressing in its treatment of transgender individuals, others defend Bradshaw’s right to express his views. This debate echoes previous conversations surrounding LGBTQ+ representation in media, with some pointing out that trans contestant Nadia Almada had won “Big Brother” in 2004.

A representative for “Big Brother” stated, “Housemates receive Respect and Inclusion training and an extensive briefing from the Big Brother senior team to prepare them for living in the House and to set out Big Brother’s expectation for appropriate behavior and language.”

“Big Brother” is known for its diverse cast that aims to reflect a wide spectrum of social and cultural views. Ryan Bradshaw himself is currently facing nomination for eviction along with other contestants as part of the show’s standard format.

In addition to his participation in “Big Brother,” Ryan Bradshaw’s past attempts at showbiz fame have surfaced. Previously, he auditioned for “The X Factor” and was involved in performances and videos that have now drawn additional scrutiny for their content. Bradshaw, often seen as a lively and outgoing individual, has yet to publicly address the recent backlash.
