Indian Airlines Face Over 100 Hoax Bomb Threats in Six Days, Indigo and Air India Affected
Indian airlines have been grappling with a wave of hoax bomb threats, with over 100 such incidents reported in the last six days. This surge in threats has significantly disrupted airline operations, particularly affecting Indigo and Air India. On a single day, nearly 25 flights received hoax bomb threats, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Gopal has emphasized that individuals making hoax bomb threats will be immediately placed on a no-fly list and could face legal action. An ex-account user identified as ‘adamlanza111’ has been booked for spreading a bomb hoax on a Lucknow-Dammam flight. Indigo’s Pune-Jodhpur flight was forced to make an emergency landing due to one such threat.
Indigo, the largest airline in India by passengers carried and fleet size, has been at the forefront of these incidents. The airline has stated that it is working closely with authorities to ensure the safety and security of its passengers. Despite the chaos, Indigo has not filed any formal police complaints but is following strict protocols to handle the situation.
In addition to the hoax threats, a pro-Khalistani terrorist has issued a threat to Air India flights, further escalating the security concerns. The Indian government is taking these threats very seriously, involving agencies such as the NSA, NIA, and CBI to conduct thorough investigations, including forensic analysis and digital evidence collection.
The ongoing situation has led to heightened security measures at airports, with passengers undergoing rigorous screening and profiling. The government’s swift response aims to prevent any potential harm and to deter future hoax threats, which are not only causing financial losses but also jeopardizing passenger safety.
