Indiana Fever Parts Ways with Katie Lou Samuelson

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 10, 2025) — The Indiana Fever announced today the mutual parting of ways with forward Katie Lou Samuelson. Samuelson, who played a single season with the Fever, appeared in 37 games during 2024, averaging 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

The news comes amid a flurry of activity for the Fever this offseason, as they have significantly restructured their roster. Recent signings include decorated veterans DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard, along with guards Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson. Additionally, Kelsey Mitchell was re-signed, contributing to a robust offseason strategy aimed at revitalizing the team’s competitiveness.

The Fever’s decision to part ways with Samuelson follows the waiver of guard Grace Berger earlier this month. During the 2024 season, Samuelson had one year remaining on her contract with a cap hit of $180,250, while she recorded a three-point shooting percentage of 33%.

Samuelson’s brief stay in Indiana marks her fifth season in the WNBA, having played for a new team each year. Her overall career points per game average stands at 5.9. With a surplus of forwards on the roster now, the Fever’s renewed focus on talent acquisition likely drove this decision.
