Indigenous Peoples’ Day March and Concert in Rapid City
Rapid City, South Dakota – NDN Collective is set to host an Indigenous Peoples’ Day March and a free concert on October 13. The event will take place in Mni Luzahan, also known as downtown Rapid City. It will run from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, featuring food and art vendors throughout the day.
The celebration aims to honor Indigenous culture and resilience through music, dance, and traditional artwork. Attendees can expect a day of political education, cultural celebration, and community action that promotes hope and empowerment.
The march will begin at the Bandshell in Memorial Park from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. It is designed to honor the collective resilience and resistance of Indigenous peoples. “We want everyone to come together and celebrate our culture,” an NDN Collective spokesperson said.
This year’s concert features an exciting lineup of performances. Headliners include Santee Witt, along with special spoken word performances, comedy acts, and a drum group called the Blackstone Singers. The lineup also includes a screening of the short animation film ‘POW!’.
For those who cannot attend in person, NDN Collective will provide a livestream of the concert across their platforms. This allows everyone to participate in the celebration, regardless of location.
Stay tuned for further updates as the event approaches. The community is encouraged to join in a day of fun and solidarity.
