ED Investigates Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in Land Scam Case

The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, has come under scrutiny as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigates him in a case related to a land scam. A team from the ED visited his residence in Delhi on Monday to question him regarding the money laundering case. However, Soren was found missing from his residence. The illegal acquisition of military-controlled land has put Soren in a difficult situation.

Hemant Soren has been implicated in the fraudulent purchase and transfer of land through illicit means in Ranchi. During the investigation, it was revealed that 4.55 acres of land had been transferred illegally. However, his current whereabouts remain unknown. Soren has, however, sent an email to the ED, scheduling the questioning for January 31, 2024.

In this land scam, the ED has so far arrested a total of 14 individuals. The investigation exposed how these accused individuals colluded with government officials to facilitate the transfer of land in favor of land mafias through fraudulent means. Following the revelations, the central agency has attached properties worth more than 236 crore rupees.
