Jannik Sinner’s journey in tennis began at an early age, starting his training at just three years old. He took his first steps in professional tennis on the ITF Circuit in 2018.

At the young age of 19, Sinner made history by winning the ATP Challenger title in 2019, becoming the youngest Italian to achieve such a feat. He subsequently participated in the 2019 U.S. Open, but his debut on the Grand Slam stage ended in defeat against former champion Stan Wawrinka.

Sinner’s breakthrough came at the 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals, where he claimed the championship by defeating Alex de Minaur in straight sets. Recognizing his talent, Sinner received the ATP Newcomer of the Year award, finishing the year ranked 78th in the world.

In the following years, Sinner’s dedication and hard work bore fruit. He won his first Grand Slam main-draw match at the Australian Open in 2020, impressing the tennis world by reaching the quarter-finals of the French Open in the same year.

The Italian prodigy secured his maiden ATP title at the 2020 Sofia Open, establishing himself as the youngest Italian to win a tour-level title in the Open Era. He concluded the year ranked 37th in the world.

Sinner’s meteoric rise continued in 2021, as he emerged victorious in several tournaments, including the Great Ocean Road Open, Citi Open, Sofia Open, and European Open. He also earned the opportunity to compete in the prestigious ATP Finals as the first alternate and finished the year ranked 10th in the world.

The following year brought more milestones for Sinner. In 2022, he reached the quarter-finals of both the Australian Open and the U.S. Open, with the latter ending in a grueling five-hour and 15-minute battle against eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz, marking one of the longest matches in the tournament’s history.

Continuing his impressive run, Sinner achieved his first-ever Grand Slam semi-final appearance at Wimbledon 2023. Additionally, he secured his first Masters 1000 title at the Canadian Open and reached a career-high ranking of number four in the world, placing him among the top five players in Italian tennis history.

In the round-robin stage of the ATP Finals, Sinner demonstrated his prowess by defeating Novak Djokovic. However, Djokovic had the upper hand in the final, denying Sinner the victory. Just a month later, Sinner contributed to Italy’s triumph in the Davis Cup after a 47-year gap, cementing his role in the nation’s tennis legacy.
