Jack Draper Advances To Adelaide International Final

British tennis player Jack Draper has secured a spot in the final of the Adelaide International tournament. Draper defeated Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan in straight sets, winning 7-6 (7-2) 6-4. The final will take place at the Memorial Drive venue on Saturday, where Draper will face Jiri Lehecka from the Czech Republic.

Jiri Lehecka also had a successful day, beating third-seeded Sebastian Korda with a dominant score of 6-2 6-1. This will be Lehecka’s second consecutive appearance in the tournament final, after losing to Novak Djokovic last year despite having a championship point.

This marks Draper’s second time reaching an ATP final, following his loss to Adrian Mannarino in the Sofia Open final in November.

In his post-match interview, Draper expressed his happiness with his performance and the way he has been playing. He acknowledged the challenge of facing Bublik, known for his unpredictable style of play, and praised him for being great for tennis.

The British player also discussed the difficulties of dealing with Bublik’s powerful serve and the sun’s glare while playing. He mentioned his ambition to win the title after making it to his first final at the end of last year, emphasizing the tough challenge ahead.

In a separate match, Ben Shelton, another American player, suffered defeat against Taro Daniel at the Auckland Classic, missing out on reaching his second career final. Daniel, ranked 74th in the world, won the match 7-5 7-6(9), setting up a final clash with Alejandro Tabilo.

Alejandro Tabilo secured his spot in the final by defeating Arthur Fils 6-2 7-5. This will be Daniel’s first tour final since Istanbul in 2018.

The Adelaide International final between Jack Draper and Jiri Lehecka can be watched live on Sky Sports Arena and Main Event from 5:30am on Saturday. Tennis fans can also enjoy the WTA and ATP Tours on Sky Sports throughout 2024.
