Jadon Sancho Shines in Chelsea Debut Against West Ham
Jadon Sancho made an impressive impact on his full debut for Chelsea, providing an assist for the team’s opening goal against West Ham United within four minutes of the match at the London Stadium. The 24-year-old quickly combined with Nicolas Jackson, setting the striker off down the left flank, contributing to an attack that resulted in an early Chelsea goal.
This notable start follows Sancho’s effective performance in his previous match, where he assisted Christopher Nkunku‘s decisive late goal against Bournemouth after coming off the bench at halftime. In that encounter, Sancho’s play proved crucial to Chelsea’s narrow victory.
Sancho’s current form at Chelsea contrasts with his past season at Borussia Dortmund, where he managed to assist the same number of goals in 24 matches as he has done in just two appearances for Chelsea. Furthermore, his assist tally already surpasses that of all Manchester United players this season, despite United having played fewer matches than Chelsea.
During his stint at Manchester United, Sancho contributed to six goals in total, ending this chapter with his move to Chelsea. Chelsea is committed to purchasing the winger for a reported fee of £20 million to £25 million after a loan arrangement.
Reflecting on his memorable debut for Chelsea, Sancho expressed his enthusiasm in a post-match interview, stating, “It’s amazing to make my debut for Chelsea, just being back playing, I’m very grateful.” He added, “I’ve been working hard for this moment, and I’m just happy that I got my chance.”
