James Bay Tops Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay Chart with ‘Up All Night’
James Bay‘s latest single, “Up All Night,” has climbed two places to secure the No. 1 spot on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Airplay chart, dated October 12. This achievement marks Bay’s first-ever number one on any radio ranking. Previously, Bay reached as high as No. 2 on the chart with his 2015 hit “Hold Back the River.”
The English singer-songwriter follows closely behind with his predecessor on the chart, who was also a first-time chart-topper. Bay takes over the top position from Frontperson and their track “Floating Parade,” which held the number one spot for two weeks.
In the collaboration on “Up All Night,” The Lumineers add their seventh Adult Alternative Airplay No. 1. This is their first since their 2021 release “Brightside,” which led for two weeks. The band, fronted by Wesley Schultz, first hit the top of the chart in 2012 with “Ho Hey.” Meanwhile, fellow collaborator Noah Kahan scores his third consecutive No. 1 following “Northern Attitude” and “Dial Drunk.”
“Up All Night” currently holds a position at number 36 on the all-format, audience-based Billboard chart, with one million audience impressions recorded in the week ending October 3, according to Luminate. It has also maintained a spot on the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally for four weeks, peaking at number 28 in August.
The track serves as the lead single from Bay’s newly released fourth studio album, “Changes All the Time,” available from October 4. Bay’s previous album, “Leap,” was launched in July 2022 and has since garnered 39,000 equivalent album units.
Billboard announced that all charts dated October 12 are set to update on their website on October 8.
