LEÓN, Mexico — Speculation surrounding James Rodríguez‘s potential transfer from Club León to Pachuca for the World Club Cup has been dismissed. Grupo Pachuca confirmed that no deal will take place after Club León was officially excluded from the tournament due to ownership conflicts.

Sources close to Grupo Pachuca stated that claims of Rodríguez joining Pachuca were completely false. A spokesperson declared, “There is no possibility.” Meanwhile, León’s focus has shifted to their upcoming Liga MX quarter-final match against Cruz Azul.

Despite a recent dip in form, Rodríguez remains a key player for León. He has participated in 16 matches this season, starting 14 under coach Eduardo ‘Toto’ Berizzo. Known for his competitive spirit, Rodríguez has consistently shown a commitment to lead, even in tough situations. Although he will miss action this Thursday due to a suspension, he is expected to return for the match on Sunday in Mexico City.

Club León’s exclusion from the World Club Cup was confirmed on May 6 and marked a significant setback for the team. They had hoped to compete against top teams like Flamengo and Esperance from Tunisia. However, the FIFA ruling upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) cited multiproperty issues as the reason for their disqualification.

Club León’s recent press release expressed disappointment with the FIFA decision, emphasizing the pride in earning their World Cup spot on the field. They criticized the ruling process as lacking consideration for sportsmanship, insisting that their achievements deserve respect.

The future remains uncertain for Rodríguez as speculation arises that he may still transfer to Pachuca on loan before the tournament starts. If such a move happens, he would play against teams like Real Madrid and Al-Hilal.
