PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — What began as a playful swipe on Tinder turned into a lifelong love story for Jason and Kylie Kelce. The couple, who met in 2015, recently shared the humorous and heartfelt details of their courtship, engagement, and growing family during a podcast appearance.

Kylie, 32, first encountered Jason’s profile on the dating app while she was a student at Cabrini University. “We were just messing around, so I swiped right,” she recalled during the January 12 episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. Her initial pick-up line — “I need LifeAlert. I’ve fallen for you and I can’t get up” — didn’t impress Jason, 37, a former Philadelphia Eagles center. “He messaged back and was like, ‘No, you got to try harder,’” Kylie said. Her second attempt — “If I told you I work for UPS, would you let me handle your package?” — won him over.

At the time, Kylie didn’t realize Jason was a professional football player. “His profile bio on Tinder said that he wanted to cuddle and have intimate conversations about having babies,” she joked. “It was sarcastic but ended up being very ironic.” After some online sleuthing, Kylie and her friends discovered Jason’s identity, leading to suspicions of a catfish. “My friends and I, of course, were like, ‘It’s a catfish,’” she said. “So, when he said, ‘You should meet us at this bar,’ my one friend who’s my ride-or-die … she was like, ‘We have to go because if it’s him, it’s hilarious [and] if it’s not him, it’s even funnier.’”

Their first date, however, didn’t go as planned. Jason, fresh off his team’s holiday party, fell asleep at the bar within 45 minutes. “I definitely fell asleep,” Jason admitted on his “New Heights” podcast in September 2023. Despite the rocky start, the couple hit it off during a second meeting, talking for three hours straight. “The year that I was an R.A. … he would come to campus and stay over in my dorm more than once,” Kylie recalled. “I would have people in class two days later say, ‘Oh, so-and-so was talking about how they were walking to their 8 a.m. and [saw] Jason Kelce just walking across campus to go to his truck.’”

Jason proposed in 2017 during a visit to Kylie’s parents’ house. “He turns and he says, ‘This isn’t the most romantic way to do this, but I need you to get out of the truck,’” Kylie recounted. “And as soon as he said ‘romantic,’ I knew immediately what was happening.” The couple married in 2018 and have since welcomed three daughters: Wyatt, Ellie, and Bennett, with a fourth baby girl due in 2025. “People put this strange pressure on the idea that my husband is supposed to have a boy because he’s gonna follow in his footsteps,” Kylie said. “I hate to break it to you, but our kids play catch with him in the house all the time. He’s fine.”
