Jeff Skinner Signs One-Year Deal with Anaheim Ducks After Sabres Buyout
After being bought out by the Buffalo Sabres, veteran forward Jeff Skinner has inked a one-year contract worth $3 million with the Anaheim Ducks, as confirmed by TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.
Skinner, a 32-year-old winger, tallied 24 goals and 46 points in 74 games during his last season with the Sabres.
The 5-foot-11 player was a seventh overall pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2010 and has accumulated 357 goals and 670 points over his 1,006-game career between the Hurricanes and Sabres.
Skinner earned the Calder Trophy for the NHL’s rookie of the year in 2011, boasting 31 goals and 63 points in his debut season; however, he has yet to participate in the NHL playoffs throughout his 14 seasons in the league.
Despite this lack of postseason action, the Toronto native has four appearances for Team Canada at the World Championship, securing a silver medal in 2017.
