Jennifer Coolidge At The Tryst Puerto Vallarta

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico — Actress Jennifer Coolidge, famous for her role as Tanya in HBO’s hit series The White Lotus, expressed her deep connection with the LGBTQ+ community during her recent appearance at the grand opening of The Tryst Puerto Vallarta on April 26, 2025.

In an interview on the red carpet, Coolidge described the mutual affection she shares with the LGBTQ+ community, declaring, “I feel like I joined the LGBTQ+ community when I was young. We didn’t all know that we were all attracted to each other for the same thing.” She reminisced about feeling lost as a child and how her relationships with gay friends have enriched her life.

“Most of my buddies are gay men and gay women too. I could go on forever about how much it’s improved my life. If it hadn’t happened and if I hadn’t met everyone in the gay community that I know, I think my life would be nothing — and I mean nothing without it,” she said.

Coolidge, who won an Emmy for her performance in The White Lotus, highlighted her belief that heterosexual individuals tend to be more self-conscious. She remarked, “Gay men and gay women just let loose and have a blast. They know how to have a really good time, and they’re really original. They’re a superior group of people.”

A video clip from the event, where a TikTok user jokingly declared her sexuality, briefly made Coolidge trend on social media as she humorously responded in kind.

During the 2023 GLAAD Awards, Coolidge reiterated her love for the gay community, stating, “I have so much respect for the LGBTQ+ community, and want you all to know that I love you and I thank you for always being there for me.” She emphasized her commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ rights and her desire to give back to the community.
