Jennifer Coolidge Hopes for Trouble for Greg in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

LOS ANGELES, CA — Jennifer Coolidge has expressed her anticipation for the third season of HBO’s hit series, ‘The White Lotus,’ particularly regarding the return of her character Tanya’s husband, Greg, portrayed by Jon Gries. In a recent interview, Coolidge shared her thoughts on the new season, which premiered on February 16, 2025.
“Jon Gries has shown up,” Coolidge stated. “I hope he gets it! I hope they do something terrible to him.” Her sentiments reflect the tense and unresolved history between her character, who met a tragic end in season two, and Greg, who was revealed to have sinister intentions.
Tanya’s character faced a heartbreaking fate after being betrayed by Greg, culminating in a fall from a yacht while attempting to escape a group linked to him. Coolidge’s line, “These gays, they’re trying to murder me!” became a viral meme, highlighting the dark humor prevalent in the show.
In the third season, Gries returns as Greg, this time going by the moniker Gary, and is seen vacationing in Thailand with his new girlfriend, Chloe, played by Charlotte Le Bon. The season also sees the return of Belinda, portrayed by Natasha Rothwell, who is well-acquainted with Greg from the previous seasons.
Coolidge admitted to feeling “envious as hell” for not being part of the current season, despite voicing her excitement for its story development. “It’s really eerie — you’re not quite sure what people are up to yet. My guess? Something’s going to go horribly wrong,” she told Forbes. “I think it’s really going to go wrong.” The actress commended the showrunner Mike White for his storytelling abilities and expressed eagerness to see how the plot unfolds.
In addition to her involvement in ‘The White Lotus’, Coolidge is also featured in a new comedy titled ‘Riff Raff’ alongside Bill Murray and Ed Harris, which premieres in theaters on February 28, 2025. She plays Ruth, the ex-wife of Harris’s character, as they navigate their dysfunctional family’s troubles.
Reflecting on her career, Coolidge noted the evolution of comedy and her roles over the years, stating that she is excited about the shift toward more honest and daring humor in recent years. “I think people are really going for it now,” she explained. “I want to see the dragon!”
