American Pie Movie Cast Reunion

LOS ANGELES, California — In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Sean William Scott, best known for his role as Stifler in the iconic ‘American Pie‘ films, revealed that he and Jennifer Coolidge, who played Stifler’s mom, Jeanine, never shared the screen despite their family bond onscreen.

Scott, 48, reflected on his memorable role in the teen comedy franchise during a promotional event for the ABC sitcom ‘Shifting Gears.’ Even though viewers witnessed the chemistry between his character Stifler and Coolidge’s Jeanine, the two actors have never filmed any scenes together. “I actually never really had any scenes with her,” Scott shared. “We were in the same projects, but we never like… I don’t think there was one scene that we actually did together.”

Fans may find it hard to believe, especially given Coolidge’s unforgettable status in the series, but the nature of their roles kept them apart. While Scott had his fair share of screen time with the rest of the ensemble cast, including Jason Biggs and Tara Reid, Coolidge was busy building her reputation as an iconic “MILF” in the industry.

Coolidge’s character attracted a new generation of moviegoers, and it even influenced her dating life. “It helped my dating life in a way that I can’t ever explain,” she mentioned in a previous interview. “If I hadn’t had that movie, I don’t think… Well, let’s just say it would’ve been a very dull decade.”

Her role led to numerous opportunities and romantic advances, something she now humorously acknowledges. “I got a lot of play being a MILF,” she said. “And I got a lot of sexual action from ‘American Pie.’ There were so many benefits to doing that movie.”

Interestingly, the friendship between Scott and Coolidge has remained distant in recent years. “For no other reason other than it’s kind of life and how it is in our business,” Scott explained, saying it’s normal for actors to drift after finishing a project. “You just kind of finish a project, you go to another one.”

Despite this distance, Scott still expresses admiration for Coolidge, who is now 63. He commended her talent, calling her “a legend” and emphasizing her deserved presence in the industry. “She deserves to be in everything and to be crushing things,” Scott said.

Since ‘American Pie,’ Coolidge has continued to shine, recently earning accolades for her role as Tanya McQuoid in HBO‘s ‘The White Lotus,’ including an Emmy Award. Her range as an actress highlights the impact ‘American Pie’ has had on her career trajectory.

As for the possibility of a fifth ‘American Pie’ film, Scott noted he hasn’t heard anything official despite ongoing rumors. “Recently I’ve been able to connect with Thomas [Ian Nicholas], Tara Reid, and Jason Biggs,” he mentioned. “I’d love to reconnect with everybody. I obviously love everybody from the movies.”

Meanwhile, Reid has proposed ideas for a new installment in today’s climate, suggesting, “There’s a lot of twists. It’s really funny. It could work.” The potential for a revival of the franchise remains a topic of speculation amongst fans and the original cast alike.
