Jeriq Drops New Album 'king'

Nigerian rap sensation Jeriq has just released his highly anticipated new album titled ‘King’. Fans are buzzing with excitement as he continues to rise in the music scene.

In a recent chat on Apple Music Africa Now Radio, Jeriq opened up about his journey to fame and the incredible support he receives from his hometown. He shared that his love for music began as a chorister in the Catholic Church, where he first connected with the art form.

Jeriq explained that his dad’s love for Igbo Highlife music also played a big role in inspiring him to pursue a music career. “I started music when I was in the Catholic church,” Jeriq recalled. “That was when I got into contact with music for the first time. My dad always played Emeka Morocco’s music.”

Ahead of his album release, Jeriq dropped the single ‘Jehovah’, a song with an uplifting music video meant to motivate listeners. He said, “It’s a rags to riches story and I hope it inspires the streets to keep hustling.”

Jeriq described ‘King’ as a celebration of his past struggles and triumphs. He shared that the album is filled with stories reflecting his challenges and victories along the way. “The album is basically full of stories about my trials, tribulations, and triumphs,” he said.

He made headlines in 2023 when 15,000 fans showed up for his concert in Enugu, solidifying his status as a local hero. Now, he’s planning a stadium concert for November to take his performance to the next level. “Where I’m from, I’m the voice of the streets—I’m the hometown hero,” he stated proudly.
