Jesse Plemons Hunger Games Film Set

Los Angeles, CA – Jesse Plemons has been cast to play Plutarch Heavensbee in the upcoming film adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ new prequel novel, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” which was released on March 18.

Plutarch Heavensbee, who previously appeared as the Head Gamemaker in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and the “Mockingjay” films, played a significant role in the rebellion against the Capitol. The late Philip Seymour Hoffman portrayed the character in those films, making it Hoffman’s final role.

Plemons, who starred alongside Hoffman in the 2012 film “The Master,” expressed his excitement about stepping into this iconic role. In the new novel, a younger Plutarch serves as a cameraman capturing the reaping of tributes in District 12.

The prequel film will begin filming soon, with Francis Lawrence returning as the director. The story revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the original series.

Alongside Plemons, the cast includes previously announced actors Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, and Mckenna Grace. “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” is set to release in theaters on November 20, 2026.
