Scottsdale Airport Jet Crash Emergency Response

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — At least one person is dead following a tragic collision between two jets at Scottsdale Airport on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. local time when a Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene promptly, responding to reports of the accident near the intersection of Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the accident has prompted the temporary suspension of flights into the airport.

Flight tracking data indicated that the Learjet was arriving from Austin, Texas. As of now, the FAA has not confirmed how many passengers were aboard either aircraft.

According to sources familiar with the situation, two individuals have been transported to a local hospital, while another person received medical attention on the runway. Video footage from the site depicted the damaged Learjet resting on the tarmac without its landing gear, surrounded by ambulances and fire engines.

“We do not know how many people were on board,” the FAA said in a statement, which emphasized the priority placed on safety in light of recent airport incidents nationwide. “The FAA is temporarily pausing flights into the airport.”

The crash comes amidst a concerning trend of aviation accidents that have surfaced in recent weeks, raising anxiety for travelers across the country. Local officials and representatives from the aviation industry are expected to provide more information during a news conference scheduled for 4 p.m. today, which will be broadcast live on Arizona’s Family.

As emergency responders conduct their operations, the airport remains closed, and authorities urge the public to stay away from the area until it has been cleared.
