Jimmy Johnson Doubts Tua Tagovailoa’s Chances Against Green Bay Packers Despite AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award
Former Miami Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson has expressed his doubts about the Dolphins’ chances of winning their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers, despite quarterback Tua Tagovailoa‘s recent accolades. Tagovailoa was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Week 12, but Johnson remains unconvinced that the Dolphins can secure a victory in the cold weather at Lambeau Field.
Johnson, who appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, emphasized the importance of this game for the Dolphins’ playoff hopes. He stated, “I think the Dolphins are in a situation right now with their schedule: if they could beat Green Bay, they would have an outside chance at a playoff. (So) they have to win.” However, he quickly followed up with his skepticism, noting, “but if they have to win, they have to beat Green Bay. And they’re not going to beat Green Bay, you know, a short week against a good football team in 20 degree weather. I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
The game, scheduled for November 28 at 8:20 p.m. ET, is expected to be played in chilly conditions with temperatures around 28 degrees and a wind-chill index of 18. This weather could pose a significant challenge for the Dolphins, who have a poor record in cold temperatures, standing at 3-7 in games where the temperature is 23 degrees or colder.
Despite Johnson’s doubts, Tagovailoa has been in top form, connecting with eight different pass catchers in the last game and finishing with 29-of-40 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns. His performance was also highlighted by Tom Brady, who included him in his top 3 performers of the week on his FOX show.
