José Quintana to Start Crucial Game for Mets in MLB National League Division Series
As the MLB National League Division Series continues, the New York Mets are poised to take on the Philadelphia Phillies in what could be a decisive fourth game at Citi Field in New York. The Mets currently lead the series 2-1, and a win on Wednesday would secure their place in the National League Championship Series. If defeated, the series will extend to a fifth game, to be played in Philadelphia on Friday.
Colombian pitcher José Quintana will be taking the mound for the Mets, while the Phillies will counter with Venezuelan left-hander Ranger Suárez. Quintana, who delivered an impressive performance against the Milwaukee Brewers last Thursday, will attempt to guide the Mets past the Phillies’ formidable line-up.
In his previous outing, Quintana pitched six solid innings without allowing a run, conceding only four hits and striking out five. “I’m very grateful to God for everything I’ve accomplished this season. The team is united, giving everything,” Quintana remarked to journalist Argemiro Ortiz.
As Quintana faces the Phillies, he holds the distinction of being the only Colombian pitcher in the MLB postseason, with aspirations mirroring those of fellow Colombians Édgar Rentería and Orlando Cabrera who have previously won the World Series.
In addition to Quintana’s efforts, another Colombian, Donovan Solano, could advance to the Championship if the San Diego Padres defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers at Petco Park.
The scheduled games form a crucial part of the postseason picture, captivating fans and stirring hopes for the teams involved. Mets fans, numbering 41,800 at Citi Field, are expected to rally behind their “golden lefty,” Quintana, in anticipation of progression to the Championship.
