Joshua Jackson Jodie Turner Smith Custody Dispute

Los Angeles, CA — Joshua Jackson has filed an emergency court motion against Jodie Turner-Smith, alleging she changed their daughter’s school without his consent. The actor’s motion, submitted on May 30, comes after the couple finalized their divorce, during which they agreed to share joint custody of their daughter, Juno.

In the court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Jackson claims Turner-Smith enrolled their 5-year-old daughter in a new school for the upcoming academic year without consulting him, which he asserts violates their previous agreement. He argues that such an abrupt change would negatively impact Juno, who is currently thriving at her present school.

Jackson stated, “There’s no big deal to force Juno to start over with a new school,” expressing his concern that Turner-Smith is trying to create a situation where Juno would travel with her instead of attending a traditional school. He emphasized the importance of stability in Juno’s education.

Jackson’s motion requests the court to ensure that Juno remains at her current school for the 2025-2026 school year and that both parents must jointly consent to any future changes regarding her schooling. He highlighted the need for collaboration in making significant decisions for their daughter’s well-being.

“Even in the best case, on-set tutoring cannot begin to provide a child with the same nurturing, enrichment, peer relationships, and social skills,” Jackson noted in his filing. He pointed out the emotional challenges Juno has faced, including the recent loss of their family home due to wildfires.

This legal action reflects ongoing tensions in their co-parenting arrangement, despite both parents having voiced a commitment to prioritize Juno’s well-being. Jackson and Turner-Smith have been in the public eye since they were first linked in 2018 and welcomed Juno in April 2020. They officially separated in September 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.

Turner-Smith had previously stated she would consult Jackson regarding educational decisions, following a stipulation established in 2024 allowing her to have the final say on Juno’s schooling. However, the recent developments indicate a significant breach of that agreement. The former couple is scheduled to return to mediation later this month.
