Julianne Hough Ready to be a Mom as Derek Hough Awaits First Child

Los Angeles, CA — Julianne Hough, a professional dancer and TV personality, shared her excitement about becoming a mother during an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on November 19. The 37-year-old dancer was discussing her brother Derek Hough, who is expecting his first child with wife Hayley Erbert.

“I’m ready to be a mom,” Julianne said, reflecting on the timing of her brother’s new chapter in life. “To be at this stage of my life while he’s having a baby, I’m just seeing it through different eyes.” She noted that becoming an aunt at 11 years old made her think about motherhood as she watched her siblings raise their children.

Julianne described the bond between Derek and Hayley, stating, “They are such a yin and yang. They balance each other so well. This little kid is going to be the most creative, talented genius on the planet, and Aunt Juju is going to be there just supporting it.” Hudson chimed in, expressing hope to see Julianne take on the role of “Mama Juju” in the future.

Derek, 38, and Hayley, 30, got married in August 2023 in Monterey County, California. They shared a touching announcement video on July 22, revealing their exciting news while embracing at a scenic location.

In the video, Derek and Hayley shared their joy, stating, “We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small ♥️.” Derek had spoken about wanting to expand his family a year earlier, saying, “We definitely want to have a family eventually.
