Juventus Hope for Dean Huijsen Transfer to Chelsea This Summer

TURIN, Italy (AP) — Former Juventus defender Dean Huijsen could be one of the biggest players on the move during this summer’s transfer window. After a standout season with Bournemouth in the Premier League, Juventus is hopeful he will join Chelsea.
Huijsen, a product of Malaga‘s academy, later moved to Juventus, where he played on the Next Gen team in 2023-24. A loan to Roma in the latter half of that season under manager José Mourinho gave him some exposure. However, first-team opportunities at Juventus were limited, leading to his transfer to Bournemouth.
Now, with a release clause of nearly €60 million (£50 million), the recently capped Spain international is in a position to be sold for a significant profit after just one year on the south coast of England. Juventus included a 10% sell-on clause during his sale, entitling them to about €6 million if his release clause is activated.
Juventus has two main reasons to want Huijsen at Chelsea. First, a new center-back signing would likely indicate there is no room for Renato Veiga, who is currently on loan from Chelsea to Juventus. Reports suggest the Italian club is eager to keep Veiga and could renegotiate loan terms for the next season.
The transfer of Huijsen to Chelsea would provide Juventus with funds to make an offer to Chelsea for Veiga. Media reports indicate Juventus is looking to negotiate a long-term loan deal for Veiga, with options for a possible buy.
Juventus is currently in fourth place in Serie A despite some struggles, having recorded two consecutive draws. The race for the last Champions League spot is tightening, but they hold a slender lead over Lazio. Winning their next match against Udinese could solidify their position, making the last game of the season against Venezia more about securing their Champions League return.
