Saint Malo, France – Slovenian tennis player Kaja Juvan advanced to the quarter-finals of L'Open 35 de Saint Malo after defeating Swiss player Celine Naef 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday evening.

In her previous match on Tuesday, Juvan, the No. 8 seed, overcame Belgian Greet Minnen, the No. 5 seed, with a score of 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-3. Juvan’s strong performance allowed her to secure a spot in the round of 16.

Juvan’s next opponent will be No. 3 seed Katie Volynets, who moved into the quarter-finals following a victory over Varvara Lepchenko, winning 6-1, 6-2. Volynets, ranked No. 70, expressed her eagerness for the upcoming match against Juvan.

Celine Naef, who lost to Juvan, is currently ranked No. 180. She previously won against French qualifier Sara Cakarevic with a score of 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3. Despite her loss, Naef’s competitive spirit was evident throughout the tournament.
