Kalen Deboer Named Head Coach Of Alabama Crimson Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Kalen DeBoer, winner of multiple coaching awards, has been chosen as the new head football coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide, announced by Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. DeBoer had a successful tenure at Washington before taking on this new role.

DeBoer’s impressive coaching record includes 104 wins and only 12 losses in his nine seasons as a head coach. During his time at Washington, he led the Huskies to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, securing the Pac-12 Championship and setting a program record of 14 wins in a season.

Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, DeBoer acknowledged the honor of following in Coach Saban’s footsteps and his commitment to Alabama’s tradition of excellence. He thanked the university’s leadership for their belief in him to lead the football program.

Prior to his tenure at Washington, DeBoer enjoyed success at Fresno State and the University of Sioux Falls, where he won three national titles as a head coach. He has also held coaching positions at different institutions, including Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois, and Washington HS.

DeBoer’s coaching expertise has resulted in the development of notable players and award winners such as Maxwell Award winner Michael Penix Jr. and the offensive line recognized with the Joe Moore Award. He has a strong track record of success in playoff games and building winning teams.

The University of Alabama leadership expressed their confidence in DeBoer’s ability to uphold the proud tradition of excellence associated with Alabama Athletics. President Stuart R. Bell praised Director of Athletics Greg Byrne for his leadership throughout the process and thanked the university system’s board of trustees for their ongoing support.
