LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Pop superstar Katy Perry is gearing up for her first concert tour in seven years, but she’s not leaving her family behind. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 40-year-old singer revealed how she and fiancé Orlando Bloom support each other through their demanding careers and parenting their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy.

“We really understand and support each other,” Perry said. “I’m preparing to go on this world tour, and he understands that. It’s just like when you’re prepping to do a movie, and some of the movies he’s done are even more physically and mentally intense than any of these tours.”

Perry, who announced her Lifetimes Tour on Jan. 27, will kick off the U.S. leg in Houston, Texas, on May 7. The tour supports her 2024 album and promises to be a “love-filled spectacle” celebrating her most beloved hits. Despite the excitement, Perry emphasized the importance of balancing her career with her family life.

“It’s great to have a family to come home to and a whole identity outside of being ‘Katy Perry’ and music,” she said. “I’m really proud of what I created and the time that I have had off because it’s super grounding for me.”

Perry and Bloom, who got engaged in 2019, have mastered the art of maintaining a strong relationship despite their hectic schedules. The singer highlighted the importance of understanding each other’s love languages to “lighten the load” of daily stresses.

“Understanding what your partner’s love languages are breeds connectedness,” Perry explained. “My love language—or one of them—is acts of service because I’m actually super caretaking. I like to look after people and make sure everyone’s having a great time. I find joy in other people’s joy.”

Bloom, 48, is expected to join Perry for parts of her tour, along with their daughter Daisy. “He’s a busy, busy guy,” Perry said, “but I’m sure they’re both going to come out for different sections.”

The couple, who met at a Golden Globes afterparty in January 2016, have built a relationship rooted in mutual respect and curiosity. Perry recalled setting intentions under a full moon before meeting Bloom, hoping to find someone as curious about life as she is. “I get to see who he is in those challenging moments,” she said. “And it’s why I chose him.”

As Perry prepares for her tour, she remains focused on delivering a memorable experience for her fans while prioritizing her health and family. “I’m 40. I have a family. I have a whole other world outside of this that I’m tending to as well,” she said. “I know the responsibility of putting on a tour and how much people look forward to it. I’m really trying to stay in the best shape, give my body breaks, and look after myself so that I can show up every night and give as close to 100% that I can.”
