INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 29, 2025) — The Indiana Fever have secured the return of veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell for her eighth WNBA season, the team announced Wednesday. Mitchell, a two-time All-Star, will continue to be a cornerstone of the franchise as they aim to build on their 2024 playoff appearance.

“Kelsey has been a foundation of our franchise for many years, and we are thrilled to see her return to the Fever,” said Kelly Krauskopf, President of Basketball and Business Operations. “We value Kelsey’s commitment to our organization, and we’re excited to see her build off a phenomenal 2024, her best season yet.”

Mitchell, drafted No. 2 overall in 2018, is coming off a career-best season where she averaged 19.2 points per game, shot 46.8% from the field, and 40.2% from three-point range. She also contributed 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, leading the Fever to their first playoff berth since 2016.

“I’m thrilled that Kelsey is returning to Fever. She has been an integral part of this franchise from the moment she was drafted,” said Fever Head Coach Stephanie White. “I have watched her journey from the sideline since her time in college and have always admired her work ethic, approach to the game, and the way she interacts with her teammates.”

Since her debut, Mitchell has appeared in 235 of 240 possible games, ranking second in franchise history in points scored (3,923), three-pointers made (558), and minutes played (7,085). She also ranks fourth in assists (649).

Mitchell’s return ensures the Fever retain a key piece of their backcourt alongside rising star Caitlin Clark. The duo made history in 2024 as the first pair in WNBA history to each make over 100 three-pointers in a single season.

With Mitchell’s re-signing, the Fever aim to build on their 20-20 record from last season under new head coach Stephanie White. The team also retains core players NaLyssa Smith and Lexie Hull, setting the stage for another playoff push in 2025.
