Kenny Albert Named New TV Voice of Rangers Following Sam Rosen’s Retirement

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Kenny Albert has been selected as the new play-by-play announcer for the New York Rangers, taking over from Sam Rosen, who will retire at the end of the current NHL season. The news was confirmed Tuesday by sources familiar with the situation.
Albert, who is a New York City native and the son of legendary sports broadcaster Marv Albert, has served as the Rangers’ primary radio voice for several years. He will now step into Rosen’s shoes as the television voice of the team. Rosen, adored by fans for his longtime role with MSG Networks, has just two games left before his farewell broadcast.
“Kenny knows the Rangers and New York sports deeply,” said Mollie Walker, sports reporter for the New York Post. “While Sam Rosen leaves a tremendous legacy, fans can expect continuity with Kenny at the helm.”
In addition to his work with the Rangers, Albert is also the lead voice for NHL broadcasts on Turner Sports and serves as the backup announcer for Knicks games on MSG, where he partners with Mike Breen. He is also involved with NFL games for FOX. Albert’s extensive experience in sports broadcasting positions him well for his new role.
To support Albert, Alex Faust is set to step in as a backup announcer for television broadcasts and will also take on responsibilities for radio coverage. Faust has a strong background in play-by-play, having previously served as the voice for the Los Angeles Kings. Over the past few seasons, he has filled in as the radio announcer for the Rangers.
“Being a part of the Rangers’ broadcast team is a dream come true for me,” Faust said. “Growing up, I watched these games and admired the voices who called them. I’m honored to be joining this tradition.”
Faust is recognized not just for his work in hockey but also for being a lead announcer for Apple TV+ MLB coverage and for calling college football and basketball games. His presence in the Rangers’ broadcast team adds a contemporary flair, given his youth and understanding of the sport.
As the New York Rangers prepare for a new chapter in broadcasting, fans will experience a shift in voice. While no one can truly replace Sam Rosen, both Albert and Faust have strong ties to the New York sports culture, which should resonate with the fan base.
“The team is excited about the future with Kenny and Alex,” said a Rangers spokesperson. “This transition speaks to our commitment to engaging and energizing our audience.”
As fans look to the upcoming season, they can anticipate hearing familiar tones from Kenny Albert and the unique perspective Alex Faust brings to the broadcasts.
