HOUSTON, Texas — Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant will miss the next two games while attending to a family matter, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday.

Durant is set to miss road games against the Phoenix Suns on Monday and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. This will be the first game he has missed this season after participating in the first 14 games as a member of the Rockets.

Currently, Durant is averaging 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, contributing significantly to the Rockets’ impressive 10-4 start this season. The team sits fifth in the Western Conference as of Sunday.

Monday’s matchup in Phoenix was particularly significant, marking Durant’s first game back against the Suns since they traded him to Houston over the summer. The deal included Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Khaman Maluach, which were sent to Phoenix.

Durant’s absence will be felt as the Rockets have established the top offense in the NBA since his arrival. Along with him, Green will also be sidelined due to hamstring injuries, having played only two games this season.

This situation leaves Houston as a key contender in the Western Conference, alongside teams like the Denver Nuggets and the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

In Durant’s absence, the Rockets hope to maintain their momentum while he attends to personal matters.
