Behind The Panels Of Secret Wars Comic Retrospective

LOS ANGELES, California — A new 300-page retrospective on the comic book series that inspired Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers films will launch on Kickstarter on November 4.

The book, titled Behind The Panels of Secret Wars, explores the acclaimed 2015 comic series by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic. The series, known for its epic storyline where Doctor Doom gains ultimate power, is essential reading for Marvel fans ahead of the 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday and the 2027 Avengers: Secret Wars.

Author Ellie Pyle, a former Marvel editor, promises the book will feature insights from key creators involved in the original series, including Hickman, Ribic, and editor Tom Brevoort. It will also include unreleased character designs and pitches that never made it to publication.

Pyle expressed her excitement for the project, stating, “It’s been a fascinating journey back into Battleworld via the memories of the writers, artists, and editors who built it!”

The book is the first in a series of deluxe retrospectives by Southern California publisher Pan-Galactic Universal Worldwide (PUG-W). PUG-W editor-in-chief John Barner emphasized the commitment to exploring the depth and background of significant comic events, saying, “We show what goes into making a huge event comic from the mouths of the people who were there.”

Fans can participate in the Kickstarter campaign to secure their copy of Behind The Panels of Secret Wars, as well as access unique extras. This project aims to connect fans with comic history and provide a deeper understanding of the beloved storyline as it relates to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
